Christian Vandenberghe holds a PhD in Psychological Science (1996) from the Université catholique de Louvain, in Belgium, and a Master’s Degree in Labour Relations (1989) from the same university. He has taught occupational and organizational psychology at the Université catholique de Louvain from 1997 to 2003. He has been teaching at HEC Montréal since 2003 and has been a full professor since 2006. He was an invited professor at Toulouse 1 Capitole University, in France, from 2004 to 2011. He holds the Chair in the Management of Employee Commitment and Performance since 2005.

His research interests revolve around employee commitment, performance and well-being, as well as on change and supervision practices. His work has been published in various journals, including: Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology, Journal of Vocational Behavior, Leadership Quarterly, Group & Organization Management, Human Relations, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, and Human Resource Management.
